An interactive analemmatic sundial on the grounds of Tanglewood comes with a plaque that provides instructions for use. You stand at the appropriate engraved rectangle and become the gnomon. The plaque is inscribed:

Scientific Principle(s) being demonstrated: An analemmatic sundial demonstrated how the position and the angle of the sun changes with the time of day and also the months of the year, as you observe the apparent motion the sun crosses the sky. The position of your shadow changes with time. The length of your shadow at any given time changes with the seasons. e.g. at Noon in summer your shadow is shorter because the sun is higher in the sky than in winter at noon. Briefly explain if the experiment was effective for you. Could it have been better?: Perfect results although the ellipse was so big my shadow did not reach the numbers on the edge when I used it shortly after noon. Holding a long stick over your head would solve that problem. When is the apparatus/experiment available to the public: Daylight hours Grounds are open to all on non-concert days.
