The Stars and Stripes Military newspaper was started in Bloomfield MO in 1861. This museum is dedicated to the history of this paper and is is still in print. For many of our troops over seas this paper was their connection to home and the only source of what is going on in the world. They have a printing press that would be similar to the printing press the first issue of "Stars and Stripes" was printed on.

The printing press is on display in the lobby. There is no fee to enter the lobby area where they have an original first issue Stars and Stripes. If you do go further inside to explore the museum they do accept donations.
