Grain Exchange Building - Winnipeg MB - Current and Former Exchanges on Waymarking.com

The Winnipeg Grain and Produce Exchange was organized in 1887. This building at 167 Lombard Avenue was constructed in 1906-1907 as a 7-storey building and was the third location for the Winnipeg Grain Exchange. There were three major additions (1913, 1916, 1922) which extended the Grain Exchange Building northward to McDermot Avenue and upward to 10 storeys. On Page 19 of the URL below, there is a picture taken about 1917 that shows the original 7 storeys of the main building with the 10 storey addition.
The exchange is currently known as ICE Futures Canada.

Exchange District National Historic Site of Canada (visit link) derives its name from the Winnipeg Grain Exchange, the centre of the grain industry in Canada, and many other exchanges (wholesale trade, finance and manufacturing) which developed in Winnipeg during the period from 1881 to 1918.
