English Text on the Sign:
"When Major Curt von Francois, commander of the German Schultztruppe in German South West Africa, decided in 1890 to move his headquarters from Tsaobis to Windhoek, he had this fort built to serve as a halfway post between these two places. After the German troops had been established in Windhoek it became an outpost for the troops horses and oxen and later it also served as a so-called "Trockenposten" for soldiers who had imbibed too much."
