Najokazalszym budynkiem placu Solnego jest znajdujacy sie w pierzei poludniowej klasycystyczny gmach Starej Gieldy /nr 16/, wzniesiony w latach 1822-1824 wedlug projektu K. G. Na frontowej scianie Gieldy w doskonalym stanie zachowala sie litera „W” znamionujaca Wroscislawa, zalozyciela Wroclawia. Pamiatka po 2. wojnie swiatowej sa poteznie wzmocnione piwnice, przeksztalcone w schrony i tajemnicze tunele. Dzis po kapitalnym remoncie w latach 90. XX w. w gmachu Gieldy maja siedzibe rózne instytucje handlowe, finansowe, restauracje oraz dziennikarze TVN (majacy do dyspozycji najwiekszy we Wroclawiu balkon o powierzchni ponad 100 m2).
