At the 'Burgplatz' in Essen, Germany, Nordrhein-Westfalen is an old Mining Car on a permanent display.

The mining car can be accessed all the time for free.
It was used in one of the many mines in and around Essen. It is filled with coal.

The mining car was also used as a 'donation box' while the visit of the Pope at the 2nd May 1987.
It is placed here as an memorial for this. There's a plaque with details.

Directly nearby to the mining car is an old pully wheel on a permanent display.
