As read on the plaque "The above international boundary marker was originally installed on the Lewiston-Queenston Suspension Bridge. Located about 3/4 mile downstream from this bridge. The suspension bridge was constructed in 1850. Almost completely destroyed by wind in 1864. Reconstructed in 1899. Using members from Roebling's Suspension Bridge at Niagara Falls and demolished upon completion of the present arch bridge. Niagara Falls Bridge Commission
