The slogan 'Host City for Olympic Football' relates to the fact that the Newcastle United football club stadium was used to host some football matches in the early stages of the 2012 London Olympics.
Although most events did actually take place in London, there were a few that were held in other parts of the U.K. Some games from the early rounds of the football tournament were played in grounds of Premier League clubs.
Newcastle still proudly boast of their involvement in the Olympics.
