Die Mina Knallenfalls ist eine literarische Figur des Heimatdichters Otto Hausmann. Mina lebte vor mehr als 200 Jahren im Armenviertel "An der Fuhr" in Elberfeld, kam aus sehr armen Verhältnissen und war eines von 13 Kindern. Der Vater war arbeitslos und Trinker. Mina mußte schon sehr früh mitarbeiten, um die Familie zu ernähren. Nach ihrer Heirat ging es ihr nicht besser, sie bekam viele Kinder, und ihr Mann war ebenso arbeitslos und dem Alkohol verfallen wie ihr Vater.
Der Heimatdichter Otto Hausmann hat das in Wuppertal ziemlich bekannte Buch "Mina Knallenfalls" geschrieben. Erst Anfang der 1990er Jahre stellte sich durch Forschungen heraus, daß er für die Gestalt der Mina seine Großmutter zum Vorbild genommen hat, deren Leben aber nicht ganz so ärmlich verlief.
In der Elberfelder Fußgängerzone steht seit Juni 1979 das Denkmal der Mina. Geschaffen hat die Bronzeplastik die Wuppertaler Bildhauerin Ulle Hees. Zwei ins Straßenpflaster eingelassene Bronzetafeln zitierten Verse aus Otto Hausmanns Dichtung.

Mina lived more than 200 years ago in the slums "An der Fuhr" in Elberfeld, she had very poor background and was one of 13 children. The father was unemployed and a drunkard. Mina had to participate very early to feed the family. After her marriage she fared no better, she got a lot of children, and her husband was also unemployed and an alcoholic as her father was.
The local poet Otto Hausmann wrote the in Wuppertal quite famous book "Mina Knallenfalls". In the early 1990s, it turned out by research, that he has taken his grandmother as an example for the character of Mina, but her life was not quite so poor.
Since June 1979 stands this figure of Mina in the Elberfeld pedestrian area. The bronze sculpture was created by the Wuppertal sculptress Ulle Hees. Two plaques inseted into the pavement quote verses from Otto Hausmann's poetry.
