Situated on the north side of the cemetery, this headstone, which is slightly raised above the ground, describes it as a grave of an unknown Indian. It reads:
HERE LIES AN INDIAN, OR SO THE OLD TIMERS SAID
THE WHO AND WHY AND WHEN AND HOW
WERE BURIED YEARS AGO
IN SOMEBODY ELSE'S HEAD
FOR ALMOST A HUNDRED YEARS, A CEDAR POST
HAS MARKED HIS HEAD
BECAUSE IT IS SOON TO FAIL, WE PLACE
THIS STONE IN ITS STEAD
BECAUSE EVERY MAN DESERVES
TO REST IN PEACE
BE HE WHITE OR BE HE RED
OUR BROTHER IN THE LORD
THE GRAVE OF AN UNKNOWN INDIAN
It also has a depiction of what I would assume is an Eagle Feather, etched in the bottom right corner of the headstone.
"Bern is an unincorporated town Bear Lake County, in the U.S. state of Idaho. It is located in the southeast corner of the state, about four miles from Montpelier." (

To reach the cemetery, head north on Ovid Road from Highway 36, at the old Ovid Public School building. Follow Ovid Road north to the additional coordinates listed below, where there should be a sign for the cemetery, west up a dirt road.
