Kamenná soška zazdená do hradeb mela podle povesti bránit mesto proti dobyvatelum a nedovolit jim vstoupit do mesta. Její cinnost však v tomto smeru nebyla príliš úspešná, nesto bylo v historii nekolikrát dobyto a vypleneno. Že panna ochranitelka mesto nekdy ubránila, legendy nepraví.
