Nová Karolina Park, work of Vít Máslo and David R. Chisholm from CMC architects, is set amidst a newly urbanized area which forms an imaginary gate opening from the historical heart of Ostrava. This intriguing idea also predetermined the urban concept of the building. Nová Karolina Park was built on the place of huge brownfield where over 100 years was one of the most important coal mine in the Ostrava region, known under name "Karolina".
