Dubrovnic's old city limits, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the 'Pearl of the Adriatic', is a throve of architectural wonders and historical buildings all contained within a .25 square km area -- just perfect for tourists having only 1 day to visit the city.

The city became an important Mediterranean sea power from the 13th century onwards. Although severely damaged by an earthquake in 1667, it managed to preserve its beautiful Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque churches, monasteries, palaces and fountains -- as well as an impressive fortification all around the city.

Some of its must-see attractions include the Old City Walls tour around the city, the main street of Placa, and the St Ivan Fortress... just to name a few.
