A fully operational steam plow-set consisted mostly of two self-propelled traction engines, also plows called, which were equipped with a first vertically, later only horizontally positioned under the boiler winch; further the associated tilt plow, a police van, two water trucks and a crew consisting of up to twelve men when steam plowing through the winches, the plow was pulled over the field. The plows even moved just across the way at the edge of the field, called the headland. On the plow initially two men, a driver and an assistant sat for the insertion and tilt of the plow. Besides the Kippflügen there were other tillage equipment for use with steam plow sets, in particular cultivator. These were not tilted to change the direction of work, but possessed a device used when changing the direction of pull the cultivator of the rope.
