I wasn't sure what to expect when my girlfriend convinced me to stop here at Roller Odyssey. But when I stepped into the lobby, it was like stepping back in time to when I was a child and used to skate regularly at the local skating rink in my hometown of Klamath Falls, OR. In fact, this skating rink is laid out EXACTLY like the former rink used to skate at (only larger) and I kept having to shake my head at all the similarities between the two.
The skating rink inside was abuzz with loud music and screaming kids, just like I remember it being as a child. There were at least three birthday parties going on in small rental rooms in addition to the regular families skating, some parents content just to watch. The employees were dressed in referee uniforms to patrol the rink and make sure everyone was being safe and keeping the small kids in line.
There's a snack bar with the usual snacks one would find (also expensive). There are rental lockers to store your shoes and miscellaneous items. There are even a few arcade games in the SAME location as the ones I used to play long ago at my hometown rink. Anyone who visits this rink and grew up in Klamath Falls, OR will also agree at the similarities between the two. The Klamath Falls rink was known as 'Skateland' and was converted into a retail office building a number of years ago. I now have a place to go to if I want to recapture those moments at the rink... All the way down to the shag retro carpet on the walls. :)
