St. Paul's and its grounds and graveyard is designated as a New Zealand National Historic Place. The church commemorates the famous missionary Henry Williams.

Constructed in 1925 and consecrated in 1926 by Archbishop Averill this is the fourth church on this site. It was designed by Gerald E Jones of the Auckland architects Jones and Partners. The stone masonry was by Liddles of Auckland.

This church features massive walls of blue stone, quarried locally with contrasting brick ornamentation around arched doors and windows. The roof is slated while above the main entrance there is a lead-capped spiral.

The church commemorates the famous missionary Henry Williams. The hand organ, the second oldest in New Zealand, once belonged to Archdeacon Henry Williams. In the adjoining graveyard dating from about 1826 several important people in European history lie buried.

The first organ to be brought to New Zealand was used in Paihia Church. It arrived August 27th 1830, while Henry and Marianne Williams were in residence. It was later moved to Pakaraka and is now in the Wanganui Museum. This old organ possessed a keyboard and was also fitted with a barrel. The present organ is of similar design and vintage and is still in regular use.

The stained glass window was installed on the occasion of the Williams family reunion to commemorate 175 years since CMS missionary brothers Henry and William Williams landed in Paihia. Details and photos can be found in the church.
