The Subiaco Oval is one of the premier sports venues of the City of Perth, though it is now showing its age. The main public entrance is a small building, dwarfed by the oval itself, but here, generations of Perthians have waited (mostly) patiently in line, money clutched in their hand, to see a sport event. Usually the sport is Australian (Ozzie) rules football.
At the main entrance to the Oval is a plaque noting the first century of sporting activity in the Oval. The venue first saw a sporting event in 1908, May 9. With a victory for the home team. A result not always forthcoming in great frequency at future occasions.
