(DA) Karup Bio åbnede den 8. juni 1950 med den danske film "lejlighed til leje" med bl.a. Ib Schønberg og Lis Løwert. Siden har biografen været et aktiv for byen. I mange år blev den drevet af en enkelt ejer, men er i dag omdannet til et anpartselskab, der er ejet af 123 af byens beboere. Den daglige drift foregår helt på frivillig og ulønnet bases og varetages af en bestyrelse på 7 personer, der støttes af 18 frivillige billetsælgere, operatører mm.
Selv om biografen er en af landets mindste med ca. 100 pladser og et årligt billetsalg under 10.000 billetter fremstår den som en moderne biograf, der såvel teknisk som indretningsmæssigt lever op til de mest moderne biografhuse. I dag er biografen fuldt digitaliseret og er i stand til at vise film i de nyeste standarder såvel hvad angår billeder som lyd.
(EN) Karup Cinema opened on 8th June 1950 with the Danish film " lejlighed til leje " with Ib Schønberg and Lis Løwert. Since then the cinema has been an asset to the city. For many years it was run by a single owner, but has now been converted into a private limited company which is owned by 123 of the city's residents. The daily operation is entirely voluntary and unpaid and is managed by a board of 7 persons, supported by 18 volunteer ticket sellers, operators mm. Although the cinema is one of the smallest with around 100 seats and an annual ticket sales of less than 10.000 tickets it stands as a modern cinema that both in technical and interrior standard is on line with the most modern cinema houses. Today the cinema are fully digitized and are able to show films in the latest standards both in terms of images and sound.
