There are a variety of instruments and to keep them safe they have a protective fence around them. Each side the fencing has attached metal silhouettes of weather symbols. The station is next to a public park and there are stone steps leading up to the gate where you can get a good view of the instruments, but can't actually enter. The co-ordinates are taken at this gate.

This BBC web page published in 2008 has some details of the station and has an interview with Chris Russell who worked in the park and had been logging the weather records for 34 years.

The station is an official Meteorological Office station and the records are sent to them. At one time this used to be done on paper, but these days they are entered on-line.

The station has its own web page where you can input a date between 1908 and 2007 to find out what the weather was like on that day.

The station is at a height of 134 metres above sea level and has the following equipment.

You must post Waymark coordinates as well as a picture
