I took my profile name from the small village of Tuena in the Abercrombie Ranges.

We have been travelling between the South Coast & the Central Tablelands of NSW for over thirty years visiting family & for the majority of this time have gone via Tuena. Initially there was about forty kilometres of gravel road & this has been reduced to eleven. Not with standing this it is a good hour quicker than travelling on the Great Western Highway through the Blue Mountains.

In November 2005 I attended a birthday party in Orange with my son & we stopped in Tuena on the return. We stayed the night at the Goldfields Inn, the only pub in Tuena which has a population of 2 & a dog which is slang for not very many.

When I got home my wife gave me a newspaper & it had a two page feature on Geocaching. I already owned a Garmin GPS 72 which I used for bush walking although it was more of a novelty as I preferred maps & a compass. Anyway I joined up & decided to name myself after Tuena as it was fresh in my mind.

Tuena is a former gold mining town & there are still specs & nuggets to be found. I was lucky enough to find a small nugget in Tuena Creek & this now features on my path tag.
