This large building near the main railway station of Basel also contains a post office. But it is mainly the regional headquarter back office and one of six national processing centers.

Only a very small part of this large post building is a public post office; it is located in the lower floor.
The upper floors contain the offices of the regional headquarter of the Swiss Post. Another part is one of six national processing centers, where 170 employees work off up to 720,000 letters per day. In the top floor there is the Post cafeteria with 330 seats that is also open to the general public.
There is also a parking and several small businesses in the lower parts of the building like a bike shop, a music store, a newstand, a money exchange and others.
