The area east of Beroun town is famous for numerous limestone quarries and mines. They have a long history, many are closed now, but several are still working. Some of the closed quarries are today tourist attractions.
Some parts of this quarries were interconnected by system of underground tunnels during World War II. There was a prepared an underground factory for the German army.
Most of these tunnels were closed for safety reasons. Some inputs but was left open, or even been extended, because caves are used by bats as wintering.
