Aktse is a little village at the lake Laitjaure. There are only a view people living there during the season (summertime and you can find a hostel form the swedish youth hostel organization STF (Svenska Touristförenigen). In highseason (July/August) it is sometimes hard to get a bed, but there are also tentpitches outside.

Aktse can be reached from the village of Tjamotis (hiking of about 30 kilometers via "Cyclestigen", Kvikkjokk (hike of about 35 kilometers and about 3 Kilometers boattransfer at Laitjaure) or Saltoluokta (hike of about 35 Kilometers and two times boattransfer). You can reach Aktse also from inside the Nationalpark via a hike along Rapadalen southwards and a boattravel to Aktse.

Aktse is the entrance to Sarek Nationalpark and is situated at Lake Laitjaure. There is some boattravel for tourists only during summer organized by a sami-family living in Aktse. STF has placed three rowingboats on Laitjaure to cross the lake when there is no motorboat or if you want to save the money for the motorboat. If you are lucky you find two rowingboats on your side, then you have to cross the lake only once. There shall be everytime at least one boat on one side of the lake, so if your are unlucky you have to row three times! The places for the boats are marked, the are some meters away from the motorboat-landing.
In the Aktse Mountainhut (STF) there is a little shop during summer where you can buy some basics. The outdoor-shower is worth a try!

If you visit Aktse take the time and hike to the famous mountain of Skerfe/Skierfe (about 16 kilometers if i remember right). There you get one of the best views into Sarek Nationalpark. The sight is spectacular! Don't miss it!

Attention for the Sarek NP:
Inside Sarek Nationalpark there are no open huts and only two bridges during summer (they are replaced for the wintertime!). If you hike across Sarek Nationalpark you have to have experience of hiking, need food for at least 8 days and shoud have checked the boat-times. The area is quite hard to hike, there are a lot of small creeks to cross, some of them can be very wild, especially the ones between Mikka/Smaila and Laddepakte. Sometimes its useful to wait until the morning to cross one of those creeks - less water from the glaciers.
