Designed to resemble the Eiffel Tower, this lighthouse guards to entrance to Galdu Harbor, also known as Land's End - the most southern point on the Korean peninsula. Construction began on July 28, 200 and was completed October 18,2000.

This picturesque harbor is protected by a breakwater and this unusual lighthouse based on the design of the Eiffel Tower. Many ferries leave from this pier and the passageway into the harbor protects many small fishing boats.
The small harbor town attracts many tourists because it is known as Land's End, the most southern point on the Korean peninsula. There are trails out to the tip of this cape and a large observation tower perched on the peak overlooking the islands to the south. The tower can also be accessed by a special monorail.

갈두항방파제대는부근을 항해하는 선박에게 갈두항의 위치를 알려
줌으로써 안전하게 항해할수 있도록 하기 위하여 2000년 10월 25일 설치하였습니다.
갈두항방파제등대는 에폘탑
형상으로높이는평균해면상 14m 이고 지반에서의
높이는11m입니다.
야간에는 녹섹등을 5초 간격으로 점등하여 11마일 (약20km) 에서등대의 불빛을 학인할수 있습니다.
이곳의 소재지는 행정구역상 우리나라 국토 육지의 최남단인 해남군 송지면 송호리로 일명 땅끝으로 불리우며 천혜의 비경을 자랑하고 있습니다.
등대주변은 위험하오니 안전시설 울타리를 념어가는등의 위험한 행위는 절대삼가 하여 주시기 바랍니나.

Galdu Harbor Breakwater Lighthouse Information
Galdu Harbor Breakwater Lighthouse was built on Oct. 25, 2000, in order to provide safe passage to boats through the harbor.
The Galdu Harbor Breakwater Lighthouse was built to resemble the Eiffel Tower with an average height of 14m above ground and a structural height of 11m.
At night a 5-second green beacon light can be seen at a distance of 11 miles (about 20 km).
This place is known as the most southern point of our country located in Haenam-gun, Songji-myeon, Songho-ri, called Land’s End, a place blessed with natural beauty and mystery and regarded with pride.
Because this is a dangerous please treat this beacon of light with absolute respect.

There are actually two dated plaques affixed to the base of the lighthouse. One gives the dates and details of the construction, the other is more of a commemorative plaque, but also bearing the date of the month of completion of construction. They are detailed below.
