Die Lübecker Altstadt ist der historische Stadtkern von Lübeck, sie liegt auf einer 100 Hektar großen, von Wasserläufen und den Resten der Wallanlagen umgebenen dicht bebauten Insel. Sie wurde Ende 1987 von der UNESCO in die Liste des Weltkulturerbes aufgenommen wurde. Diese historische Insel zwischen der Trave und dem Elbe-Lübeck-Kanal ist von den Resten der mittelalterlichen Stadtmauer mit den erhaltenen Stadttoren Burgtor und Holstentor sowie der Befestigungswerke und Hafenanlagen des 19. Jahrhunderts umgeben. Die Ansicht der Altstadt wird durch die Sieben Türme geprägt.
Auf dem zentralen Marktplatz findet sich seit 2004 dieses auch in Blindenschrift beschriftete bronzene Modell der Altstadt. Es ist ein Geschenk des Rotary-Club Lübeck-Holstentor.
The old town of Lübeck is the historic centre of Lübeck, located on a 100 hectare densely built island, surrounded by streams and the remains of the city walls. In late 1987 it has been listed as a monument in UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites. This historic island between the Trave and the Elbe-Lübeck canal is surrounded by the remains of the medieval city walls with preserved city gates, the Burgtor and the Holstentor, and fortifications and docks of the 19th Century. The view of the old town is dominated by the Seven Towers.
On the central market-square stand since 2004 this bronze model of the Old Town, also labelled in Braille. It's a gift from the Rotary-Club Lübeck-Holstentor.
