Montrouis is a coastal town in western Haïti. It is also one of the most important beach tourism destinations in Haiti, with several well renowned hotels and resorts, including le Moulin-sur-Mer, an authentic sugar plantation.
The beach of Montrouis, on the Cotes des Arcadins, offers an infinite stretch of pure white sand beach (more than 1,500 meters) which give you the possibility to get some privacy if you desire. Fishing, sailing, windsurfing, snorkeling or diving are some of the activities available. We enjoyed walking on the beach between sea and mountain and watching the magnificent sunsets.
After the big earthquake of January 2010 which devastated much of Port-au-Prince, the tourist industry was not entirely affected as humanitarian tourism maintained a degree of dynamism. However, although humanitarian tourism may have offset the decline in inbound tourism flows in 2010, in 2011, arrivals fell by 25%. Haiti’s hopes for economic recovery are focused on the travel and tourism industry. (
