Located in Oakwood Annex Cemetery in Montgomery, Alabama, this cross rises above the graves of airmen who died in training accidents in World War II. It is a standard feature of cemetery locations maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (formerly the Imperial War Graves Commission).

"In any cemetery with over 40 graves, you can find the Cross of Sacrifice, designed by the architect Sir Reginald Blomfield to represent the faith of the majority. By using a simple cross embedded with a bronze sword and mounted on an octagonal base, Blomfield hoped, in his words, 'to keep clear of any of the sentimentalities of Gothic'." source is CWGC web site at: (visit link)

The site is next to the graves of Hank Williams and his wife, which are often listed in tourist maps. The entrance on Upper Wetumpka Road has a large stone sign indicating the road to the Hank Williams Memorial. Follow the Hank Williams Memorial Circle road to the top of the hill. The site is located on the left as one turns into the circle heading to the right.
