This topiary shows the coat-of-arms of the town, and in inscription with the text "Notável Vila de Moura", which had a later word added: "Cidade". This is related with the administrative denomination of localities in Portugal: lugar, aldeia, vila, cidade (hamlet, village, big village/small town, town/city). So, in 1998 Moura was upgraded from "vila" to "town" and the word was added to the existent topiary.
