Hebden Bridge only grew as town during the industrial revolution so this church was built in the early days of the town.

In 1835 a nice sundial was added to the centre of the outside wall, complete with a list of adjustments to be made depending on the time of year.

Unfortunately by 1873 the building was no longer used as a chapel and for a time housed the local newspaper, the Hebden Bridge Times & Calder Vale Gazette.

In 1982 the church became an English Heritage Grade II Listed Building.
