Medford, population 75,180 (as of July 2011) is the county seat of Jackson County, Oregon, center of a metropolitan area population of just over 200,000 people. The area was developed as the site of a railroad depot in 1883. This American Legion post building is located close to the railroad line, only about 4 blocks northwest of the historic depot. A previous American Legion property, the Barnum Hotel (Hotel Grand), is located a few blocks south on Front Street.
