The large memorial is flanked by about a dozen headstones.

The memorial is placed “In memory of North West Mounted Police Members who lie in unmarked graves.”

The North West Mounted Police cemetery dates back to the early days of the Canadian westward expansion. Located several kms from the old Battleford Fort, the cemetery is located on a prairie ridge overlooking the North Saskatchewan River.
