Visitors to Kit Carson Park might notice this plaque monumented on a brick foundation in front of the restroom building which is no longer open. The park property spans across a long and narrow stretch which includes a pavilion with tables that used to house two tennis courts, a baseball field, a playground and also houses the Boy Scouts of America local chapter facility.
The plaque reads:
KIT CARSON PARK
DEVELOPED BY KLAMATH FALLS
KIWANIS CLUB
DEDICATED TO THE CHILDREN & YOUTH
MAY 20TH 1964
G. G. VLAHOS - KIWANIS PRES.
R. E. VEATCH - MAYOR
I used to play at this park a lot as a child and not a whole lot has changed other than all the original playground equipment was taken out and replaced with a newer playground. I personally miss the old swings, merry-go-round, see-saws and a large slide that was fun to go down.
