"This convent was consecrated on July 24, 1610, after the community of Poor Clare nuns who occupied it had originally inhabited the site where later, by order of the Cardinal D. Henrique, Archbishop of Évora, they built the Church of the Jesuit College. The church is a pure example of baroque art of the seventeenth century convent. Beside her, there is the ancient tower of the city's old fence, construction of the fourteenth century (with likely origins Visigothic), then integrated by the nuns at the monastery, as-lookout tower (with the usual tiled windows, which also exist in the other two Poor Clare monasteries of the city, Santa Clara and Calvary.

Closed pursuant to the expulsion of the religious orders, in the late nineteenth century, served as Artillery Barracks 1 to be demolished in the 1940s, giving way to the Post Office building and the new Evora Street Olivenza. Escaped the destruction of the Church, the Tower-Lookout (now defunct headquarters of the Directorate General for National Buildings and Monuments - South) and part of the cloister."
