Teufelsgraben (the Devil's trench) is a small gorge north of Münchenstein.

Teufelsgraben is located in the forested hill between Münchenstein and Muttenz. The river in it - Teufelsgrabenbach - has a lenght of about one kilometer and flows from east to west into the Birs. The gorge is not very narrow, just a little bit too steep to cross it by foot.
I have no idea where the name comes from. There are no scary or dangerous spots, so maybe it derived from some old local legend but I could not find any additional information yet.
