Cradle Mountain Lake St Clair National Park is situated two and a half fours drive south west of Launceston, and covers an area of approximately 161,000 hectares.
The centerpiece of the park is Cradle Mountain, which rises 1545 metres above sea level. The mountain is made up of dolerite columns (a type of volcanic rock), common throughout the island.
The area is popular with tourists - most admiring the view from Dove Lake. A more demanding walk is the Overland Track, which traverse through mountainous country and takes six days to complete.
Cradle Mountain township has a visitors centre, cafe and a range of accommodation facilities.
The best time to visit is during the warmer months of September through to April. However because of its elevation, weather conditions can change rapidly with little warning.

Visit Instructions:
Because of the vastness of many of the "non-localized" sites (Gobi Desert, Great Wall of China), waymark owners are encouraged to allow visits that reflect different perspectives and experiences.
Localized waymark sites (Structures, Landmarks, Businesses) should reflect standard waymarking visit criteria (Logs & photos).
