St Brigid's was built beginning in 1834 and completed in April 1835. The building was constructed to serve as school building along with being a chapel. When the building was constructed it was a single story stone building the second story was added in 1933. For most of its history as it is now, St. Brigid's has served as a chapel of convenience in the parish of the much larger St Patrick’s church, though at various times it was its own separate parish. St. Brigid's school closed in 1992 but the chapel continues to conduct weekly mass.
