The plaque is in memory of Geohound Maddy the Golden Retriever who enjoyed looking for geocaches. I took Maddy on when she was a year old and we were best friends for almost 12 years. She suddenly went blind September 2005 due to a brain tumour but continued to seek out caches with me until she peacefully died in April 2006. Swanage in Dorset was her favourite place as she loved running on the downs at Pevril Point, walking the coastal path at Durlston and sharing fish & chips on the sea front. Her ashes are scattered on the downs at Pevril Point, which overlooks Swanage Pier where the brass plaque is situated.
