This National library of Singapore is located near the centre of Singapore city, not too far from any number of other governmental and public institutions. Unfortunately, though not unexpectedly, there is a ban on the taking of photographs within the library itself. The library is housed inside a office block like building, entered through an open area within the building from the street.
The library (according to the website below), began in 1823, and slowly developed in tandem with Singapore. The library provided various services over the years, preserving books and documents of local important, a lending service, a mobile service. It is now heavily engaged in preserving Singapore's past through oral history and personal document projects.
The library has changed accommodation several times over its past. As far as I can gather it occupied this building in 2004.
