Located at the southern end of Paseo Olas Altas, this coat of arms is part of a monument known as the Monumento to the Shield of Sinaloa and Mazatlan.
The Mazatlan Coat of Arms is depicted in mosaic tiles on the northern side and the State of Sinaloa's Coat of Arms are represented on the southern side.
The Mazatlan CoA is represented as shield embraced by an anchor with two mermaids on either side (one raising a mask and one raising a book). The shield has a depiction of a deer (Mazatlan's symbol), two islands and an anchor. Above the shield is seen a fan-like arcwith a sun, sunrays and a crab. The words "MAZATLAN" and "MAZATL" appear near the top and bottom of the shield respectively.
