Sparth reservoir was built as a feeder reservoir to supply water for the canal.
This colourful information board is one of a series along the route of the canal.
The board gives information about the canal and how locks work. In addition it also gives information about the wild life that can be found around the reservoir and canal.
Part of the board has a raised section to take pencil rubbings of a type of fish that can be found here. There is an associated leaflet for all the boards with space for rubbings from all the boards.
