The tower was erected to commemorate the bicentenary of the French Revolution. Built in the Vosges Golbey it was first mounted in Paris, the Jardin des Tuileries in 1989, with a tower similar. The city of Saint-Die-des-Vosges got to welcome the following year against a symbolic one franc. She was inaugurated on 14 July 1990.
La tour a été érigée pour commémorer le bicentenaire de la Révolution française. Construite dans les Vosges à Golbey, elle fut d'abord montée à Paris, au jardin des Tuileries, en 1989, flanquée d'une tour similaire. La ville de Saint-Dié-des-Vosges obtint de l'accueillir l'année suivante contre un franc symbolique. Elle y fut inaugurée le 14 juillet 1990.
