This charming place can make you travel in time, to when the Portuguese were lords of these lands. The main building used to be the home of the plantation manager or owner, and it is now a hotel with six bedrooms.
Actually the current owner, a local named João Carlos Silva, became famous on account of a TV show in Portuguese TV where he would show how to cook Santomean food. The scenario of such TV show was precisely this "roça".
This means that food in the hotel is of high quality, some saying the best available in the country. Not cheap though, for São Tomé: a double bedroom costs 38 Eur (includes a meager breakfast); a meal costs 18 Eur.
The whole place has a special character, the atmosphere is awesome. It's not only about the building... the common areas, the porch, the meals space, the bedrooms. Magical.
