In the center of the capital city of São Tomé, one will find the Liceu Nacional ("National High School") built by the Portuguese in colonial times. The building is a typical Portuguese high school from the late 50's or 60's and it includes a nice set of mosaic art in one of the walls.
The set shows four different scenes depicting economic life in the islands of São Tomé and Principe during Portuguese times. Two of them illustrate the labor in the plantations, specially the cocoa farming. Another one shows the harbor and the last one displays a design office.
The mosaic art is in the grounds of the school, but perfectly visible from outside (about 20 meters distance).
