Markets are usually picturesque places, full of color, sounds and aromas. All this is specially true for this African market, located in the center of the city of São Tomé. It's called the "New Market" as there is another market in the city, the now called "Old Market", only a few hundred meters far.
There is a central area, in the ground floor, where the "farmers products" can be found. This includes fish, lots of fish, as the local economy is strongly marked by fishing products. Also vegetables and fruits, mostly freely picked by the sellers in the fertile jungles of the country.
In the first floor sellers deal with other products and in the roof there are a few small shops selling assorted goods (for example, locally produced furniture).
