German can be difficult even for native speakers. But I think the message is clear no matter what the sign says.

I found this sign at a post near a bridge over the motorway north of Muttenz. I have no idea what the post is for, it seems to have some electronic equipment on top that look like sensors or transmitters.

The sign says: "Für Unberechtigte weitersteigen verboten".

This roughly means "do not climb further up if you are not authorized". The uncommon wording implies that you already have climbed up the lower part of the post from within the fenced area of the motorway and that is completely right to do so.

I think we get the point; it's dangerous up there. So let's climb back down to the street and get run over by the next truck. :)
Did you explain the double meaning of the word(s)?: yes

Did you explain the location or wording that brings the sign's double meaning to mind?: yes

Did you explain the meaning of life? :): Not Listed
