Flagstaff was a county community in Somerset County, Maine, near the current small town of Eustis (population 600), near Hwy 27 and the current location of Flagstaff Lake. Flagstaff and another small town called Dead River was located approximately 20 miles north of Rangeley; both were abandoned in 1950 as part of the installation of a hydroelectric Dam on Dead River, which caused Flagstaff Lake to engulf both of these small communities, which were terminated thru condemation by public domain processes.
