This monument depicts a deer standing on a rocky ledge atop a cement slanted rectangular plinth about 6 or 7 feet high. It is located in Mazatlan's historic tourist district next to the Hotel La Siesta. This website (visit link) informs us:

"...the Deer Monument, a tribute to the pre-conquistador ancient history. Mazatlán is “The Place of the Deer,” in Nahuatl, so the statue is “our” symbol."
