Albert Schweitzer (Kaysersberg, January 14, 1875 - Lambaréné, September 4, 1965) was a Protestant theologian, musician, organist, philosopher, and physician Alsatian born citizen of Alsace-Lorraine (German citizen).

Known for its ethic of "respect for life", inspired (as in témoigne1) the religions of India, including the principle of ahimsa ("nonviolence") from Jainism, Hinduism and Buddhism, but also famous for the founding in 1913 of his hospital in Lambaréné, Gabon, as well as for his work on Bach and his interpretations of organ motion characteristics of the reform Alsatian Albert Schweitzer was awarded the Goethe Prize in 1928 and the Nobel Prize for peace in 1952.

Albert Schweitzer (Kaysersberg, 14 janvier 1875 - Lambaréné, 4 septembre 1965), était un théologien protestant, musicien organiste, philosophe et médecin alsacien, né citoyen d’Alsace-Lorraine (ressortissant allemand).

Connu pour son éthique du « respect de la vie », inspiré (comme il en témoigne1) des religions de l'Inde, dont notamment le principe d’ahimsâ (« non-violence ») issu du jaïnisme, de l’hindouisme et du bouddhisme, mais aussi célèbre pour la fondation en 1913 de son hôpital de Lambaréné, au Gabon, ainsi que pour ses travaux sur Bach et ses interprétations à l’orgue, caractéristiques du mouvement de la réforme alsacienne, Albert Schweitzer fut lauréat du prix Goethe en 1928 et du prix Nobel de la paix en 1952.
