The "Canadian War Cemetery" reminds the inhabitants of Holten to the 1.394 allies of the British Commonwealth that lie buried here. Most of the soldiers were killed in the liberation of The Netherlands or during the rise of the second Canadian Corps by Northern Germany and about the German Ems (april-early May 1945).

When the second Canadian Army in the autumn of 1945 Holten passed the Commander Lieutenant-General, attacked the G.G. Simonds that the area at the Holten Canadian war cemetery would be an excellent place for a mountain. A number of Canadian officers contacted the Mayor of cavities, Mr. W.H. Enklaar, that everything ran to the cemetery. In a later stage hit the Defence Ministry involved in the construction of the field. The Canadian Government designated a piece of land, which got Canadian territory was. The cemetery was built and decorated by Canadian soldiers. The first soldiers who were buried here, were Canadians who were killed in the vicinity of Cavities.
