The Grand Forks Public Library dates back to 1892 when a group of Grand Forks women contribute $5.00 for books, store them in an office and take turns as librarians.
In 1903, with a Carnegie grant, the first Library Building open with 500 books. When this current building opened, there were 74,000 books. Today there are over 300,000 books.
